Johanna Derbolowsky was born in Hamburg Germany, studied sculpture and cinematography before moving to New York City in 1984. She has lived in Los Angeles since 1987. Her work has been exhibited in Europe and California. In addition to her career in art she is a certified clinical hypnotherapist, life coach, spiritual counselor and metaphysical teacher, with a private practice in Redondo Beach.

"My artwork is a celebration of life in all its dimensions. It is an expression of energies coming together, as different geometric shapes, colors and textures, male and female, strength and vulnerability, the attraction and the colliding of these aspects to transform, shape, and to create something new, something increasingly more powerful and beautiful. I look at life in terms of energetic interaction. In my artwork I translate those interactions into color and shape."
